Pissed at Pee on Healthcare Reform

Up until now I have kept mum about this issue...."Healthcare Reform" As a nurse I see the need
on many different levels, but for now I am just going to pick one. And please no hate mail. I see so much money wasted...money that can go to the needed health care of children. I see people demanding expensive tests be done on their elder loved ones only to not follow through on needed surgeries, procedures, or Dr appointments that follow.......thousands of dollars are spent under medicaid or medicare for Cat Scans and MRI's or other extensive testing. Most of the time these tests are merely used to diagnose a medical problem that you or your loved one don't want to hear anyway or is ordered by the Dr because you or your loved one constantly complains about even though you know damn well you are not going to do anything about it,
and thats fine but what pisses me off is when family members then say:
"oh, that Dr. is a quack"...or....."I want a second opinion"......or...."my mother is too old to go back and forth to the doctor, she doesn't need any of this" and these conditions diagnosed by these expensive tests are blown off....only for the loved one to end up back in the emergency room.....................yes you got it......FOR MORE TESTING......so HEY if you are in that age bracket now where you are caring for your parents...slap slap....get with the program stop wasting my money...yes thats right MY MONEY...the money that comes out of my paycheck to pay for YOUR parent who pees in the Cat scan machine and has to have the test repeated on another day.........yes maybe the same day that your daughter or son needs expensive medicine that your insurance company doesn't cover. GET IT?

Thoughts about Michael Jackson

Ok, my thoughts about Michael Jackson are this.......Why am I just learning more and more about the level of his brilliance NOW???......I am seeing very reputable people in the music industry coming forward and talking about him..and sharing never before seen videos of him all in a sincere and profound way. It has left me angered and speechless. Where were all these people when he needed them most...where were they when he was exhibiting bizarre behaviors and disfiguring his face.....becoming recluse and finally needing drugs to control pain. The very same people who are now speaking in a genuine manor about him are the people that should of been speaking on his behalf all along!.....Maybe if they had he would have had reason not to crawl deeply into debt or
drug use. I always knew Michael Jackson was talented...As a nurse I knew he was troubled...but what I didn't know was how much now after his death, I would miss this highly rare misunderstood
captivating entertainer.

Dunkin Do Not

Stopped at Dunkin Do Not...(or you know who I mean) for two ice coffees, and a few bagels and a hot bun. There were three people behind the counter. Each person behind the counter started taking my order for items as the other co-workers were also busy with my order. Also all three of the people behind the counter must of asked me several times what I wanted and how I wanted it. I only saw one person start entering my order in the register for 1 item.NOW a fourth person came and stood directly behind the register and began to ask me AGAIN what I ordered...I guess it was the lack of coffee but I calmly told the person that they were all nuts...I simply stated I have given you all my order several times each, I will NOT tell you again, ask your co-workers what I ordered! The Dunkin Do Not counter representative was so angry she only rang up what she could see and not what was in the bags......I basically made out good except the bagel tasted absolutely terrible and the coffee bun I was told was cold...sigh..is it just me? How hard is it to get a great tasting bagel and a hot bun when THATS WHAT YOU DO?????...AREN'T YOU DUNKIN (YOU KNOW WHO)??..................I am really worried about Americans, it is unbelievable what we are accepting. I wonder if Krispy Creme would consider
coming out east (or north). I wonder what Dunkin would Do?

One sentence

Had a short twitter conversation with a friend that has prompted this blog. You see this friend
has a terrific nephew..he is an athlete..he runs, following in his uncle's footsteps. My friend attends his games and watches him compete. There is a mutual respect between uncle and nephew.
I am still on the fence about Hilliary Clinton...( ever since I saw her on an elephant on vacation in the middle east several years ago on a quick news segment on TV)...but I was a fan of her book
It takes a village. I do believe that what is needed for our children and young adults that has gone to the wayside is a stronger connection between aunts, uncles, neighbors and the community.
I know how I feel when my twitter friends keep asking me and supporting me on my goal to quit smoking...I feel both grateful and accountable to myself and their friendship. Can you imagine how a child feels knowing there is someone out there besides their immediate family that is a fan of theirs? That is there for them ? Rooting for them? Maybe the cashier at the video store in town, or the neighbor across the street...all it takes is a quick sentence of acknowledgement.
"Hey Bobby, I hear you won the race the other day...keep up the good work I am rooting for ya"
Words like that will stay in a young mind for years...just one sentence...that is all it takes to shape the confidence of a young mind and keep that mind on the right path. Which brings me to another subject and another blog perhaps.....Have we forgotten how powerful words can be? Or have we become a society where only objects hold meaning. I say we all take the cobwebs out of our minds and start really thinking on how we can support our young adults when we see them,
either at the grocery store or pulling up in our driveways... All it takes is one sentence..just one sentence.

about sexting

Ok...this is what I think about sexting..it must be nice to be able to afford a cell phone
and be able to have the free time to send nude pictures of yourself. Because the way I feel is
this: it sounds like noone around you is having any trouble during this recession and you don't need to help a family member either emotionally, physically or financially during these hard times and I also guess that you have the time to send naked pictures of yourself instead of going out on a limb for friends, family, or neighbors who may need a loaf of bread. I think sexting right now is selfish
it is causing trouble for everyone...who the hell has the time to deal with this, zip up your pants, put on your friggin clothes and get into the real world, look to your left and look to your right no matter how young or old you are, someone is having trouble financially and may have to either lose their home, the car, or their job!.......And here you are with your head in the sand playing with yourself and your god damn cell phone...HEY all you parents out there...I have an idea...if you are late paying your bills and your teen is sexting on the cell you pay for...I GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO THROW IT IN THE GARBAGE....And hey I can stand by what I say, just ask my two daughters who not to long ago had their cell phones disconnected because I was mad they went over their limits too many times...forget about sexting. So here you are paying for this thing you can't afford, plus maybe a private education wich you can't afford, because you want your teen to be "a somebody special" someday , only for some creep who brings these nasty pics out of hiding...........my thing is snap out of it!!....if your teen is sexting thats just an itsy bitsy glimpse at what they are doing..if you can't take a cell away you are doomed for sure......take the cell away and make them get a gosh darn job to help keep your house and stop relying on us other clean taxpayers to bail you out and put food on your table.

Life before Cougarism

I will never forget the first time I was seduced by a younger male...it was in the grocery store,
I was approached and what happened next verbally unnerved me....I thought he was on drugs.
I wasn't quite sure I wanted to accept what I heard so I went straight into denial and hurried out of the store..the whole thing disgusted me. I was mad, I did not like how it made me feel, and then it happened again......and again.........and again........I was single at the time, I preferred older men with
distinguished grey hair and wallets, however I did agree to go on a blind date with a gentleman from my friend's office who was younger.....about 12 yrs younger.....he was terrific..tall, dark
handsome, great build, great stamina and liked older women......(Screeching Halt)...Why?
Why do you like older women?.......money?...experience?.....The poor guy tried a million times over to squash my fears, but I clearly found it to be a turn off and I dumped him. I made everyone upset with the decision.....my girlfriend thought I was being unfair.......the girls at work thought I was being too picky...and my neighbor thought he was my brother....younger brother ( he liked his car). Soon after all this I met Norman and I felt safe again...this was a couple of years ago....It did not have a name yet.....the word "Cougar" is new but something tells me it has been around a long time just not in the open......men are more confident now...I am just wondering before cougarism just how did it work?...Norman told me that many many years ago an older woman fed him cold strawberries as he was excavating her property.........Well you see now for some reason I think thats ok. Life before cougarism women were in control, maybe that is what is so unnerving...the lack of control, either that or we no longer can just throw any old thing on and go to the store, ....what pressure.

Laughter

So I read an article that went on to say how researchers did a study on people who made themselves laugh every morning for 15 minutes and after three weeks optimism, positive emotions and social identification had increased..........wow this can be a very effective tool if you are living or working with someone who is a pain in the ass. Why are some people no fun? I am highly suspicious of people who don't laugh. One time someone told me that they didn't like music at all and NEVER listens to music and wouldn't listen to music. OKKKKKKKKKK..now thats weird...really I was speechless...what is your reply to someone who says that to you?......I don't even try to fake it, I can't...this person was a middle aged woman ( a scientist actually......oh maybe thats why) I told her she was nuts. How can you not like music, not laugh at jokes or enjoy smoking........OK forget that last one, I was just seeing if you were paying attention....and nooooooooo I am not smoking...I was just testing YOUR sense of humor...because if you have been following me you would know I quit smoking and YES I am still laughing despite it. So back to these people who are no fun...how do you think they got that way? Habit?....a habitual dud?...thats the study I want to read about...lets do research on these people I want to find out how these no fun people got that way. My first husband used to use the phrase "thats inappropriate"..........alot......."Oh thats just inappropriate!" .....same thing........no fun.......I love to laugh....I laugh at everything, I make myself cut up and do not take no fun people seriously.
I think in the meantime until we can come up with a scientific reason on why non fun people exist we should do what we can to make them laugh , I say we stick out our tongues at them
and make faces until they laugh...or do you think thats inappropriate?

Smoke free

Yes I am smoke free...I quit on April 10th. Armed with nicorette gum and a vacation to nervousland, I threw the empty pack of cigarettes in the garbage and proclaimed "this is it"
no more smoking.........no more.......nothing....notta.....asta livista cigareesta. So at once I recalled
the horrified look on my daughter's adolescent face when she read in the beautifully designed
booklet she received at school that nicotine ...yes the nicotine in cigarettes, is a harmful drug.
She was shocked and upset...I had to provide very quick damage control and hide the book on top of the refridgerator. This recollection actually did more harm than good....it made me think......while I was chewing my gum about all the help that was going to come my way just like
other junkies addicted to crack, heroine, etc. After all there are special clinics for them that our tax dollars pay for because they are addicted to a drug....and need help...yes...there must be somewhere I can go for my free methadone and a snack. After all according to the booklet nicotine is a Drug.....and I am addicted..............ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....ok.......sooooooooo lets get this straight nicotine is classified as an addictive drug...my tax dollars pay for other junkies to get help, but I am on my own................and lets see........friends and family had no problem bringing up the subject daily...but hey how come noone has said a word about it since I quit...yeah how come noone is saying...you quit , you quit , you quit, you need to stay quit!..........they are though saying......Have you gained weight since you quit?

Goatfox

For those of you who might be wondering, I thought I would tell you about how my nickname "Goatfox" came to be. Years ago my husband Norman had a good friend named Matt who used to work on our farm. Whenever Matt got angry he would yell out "OH Goatfox!" There are other reasons too......we raise goats......Norm has a close beard.....and of course yes you guessed it I am a Fox. smile*

Recession

I just heard on the news that the recession is near over. Apparently there are signs?
I was just wondering exactly who feels that the recession is over? OHHHHHH I know,
all the company powers that be, you know all the head honchos that went along with the tide
and mass fired their families.....I mean employees....or maybe I mean families...well lets see
the word "family" was used when overtime was needed, or like in my case, a nurse, when there is a snow storm and coverage is needed, you get the drift. In a recession and panic is in order well then
of course now we are considered an "employee".............so if the recession is over will all the 'employees" get called back in to work and be expected to work as a "family" again? Or will families get called in and be expected to work as "employees". This is alot to think about so my idea is to just wait until the recession or depression...no I think its a recession, is really over but not nearly over....unless they meant to say that the depression is near over but the recession is still not over.
I think we should leave it to the families of the employees to decide.
